Puu Poa 403 [1]
Kauai Penthouse
Reviewed on 2025-03-13 by , HULL, IA USThe rental was clean quiet and beds comfortable. Swimming pool onsite was outstanding. The mgmt team was quick to respond to needed repairs and cleaning that was missed- like the hot and cold connections on the washer was flipped. For a luxury rental at this price I would have expected carpet with way fewer stains and more attention to details like - remove the nails in the wall if they are not used (just painted over), no rust on skylight and better draining in master shower so the tiles won't be so stained. There are other units in the building that are immaculate. To have a sunset view must be on south side of the island with a west view.

Princeville 2025 Escape
Reviewed on 2025-01-26 by Eric M. , Portland, OR United StatesThe rental experience was good overall, but there are definitely some areas for improvement of this property. Many items have been reported by other guests, so it was disappointing to not see them addressed. 1-Carpet in bedrooms is stained and needs replacement. 2-Dishwasher and fridge are in poor condition. 3-Grill outside is functional but is in horrible shape needing replacement. 4-Interior doors are falling apart. Aside from these maintenance issues, the unit and surrounding amenities were wonderful, and the location was perfect.

Reviewed on 2024-12-17 by Tom E. , San Diego, CA United StatesWe love this location and Oceanfront is a pleasure to deal with. However, it is time for some basic updates to this unit (i.e. new paint, worn indoor & outdoor furniture).
Superb location but this unit 403 needs some love
Reviewed on 2024-12-08 by Stephanie R. , Dallas, TX United StatesWe have stayed at 6 different units in the Pu’u Poa condominiums, all providing different ranges of decor and care. The top floor provides incredible views, which was a primary driver in our selection of 403. However, the inside of this unit had several indications of less than ideal care of the property. Examples are: significant staining and wear of the primary bedroom carpet (needs replacing), evidence of someone kicking in the secondary bathroom door (hole in the door), splitting of the primary bedroom door, closet doors not shutting or opening easily, and no racks on the refrigerator doors to allow storage of drink bottles, etc. The furniture was adequate and there were plenty of beach chairs and boogie boards for fun days at Hanalei. We always enjoy our stay at Pu’u Poa, but the issues cited show that this unit is not well-cared for. For ~$6000/week, we have seen units in much better condition at Pu’u Poa and would seek those out before renting 403 again, assuming the issues cited above remain.
A good experience

Princeville Condo Rental
Reviewed on 2024-01-06 by Michael N. , Los Gatos, CA USTerrific location with amazing view of ocean. Nice complex and spacious 2-bedroom unit. Well provisioned with kitchenware, beach equipment, linens, furniture, etc. Was overall clean, but some visible weather damage inside, carpets stained multiple places, missing/broken screens on windows, and most appliances older, so not refurbished as implied by listing. Overall, a nice stay, but had expected better condition for the price.
Great Stay- lovely place!
Reviewed on 2023-08-26 by , SAINT JOSEPH, MO United StatesWe had a wonderful stay. The views are fantastic- the place well equipped for anything you could need- from spices to yoga mats. It exceeded our expectations. We will definitely book again if travels lead us back.
Beautiful place
Reviewed on 2023-07-11 by Kelly H. , Issaquah, WA USWe started out in a first floor unit that smelled strongly of mildew which I am allergic to.
The only real problem was that the range in the kitchen had an electrical problem. A burner stayed hot even when it was turned off. My husband found the electric panel and flipped the switch. It was late on Father’s Day evening and we did not want to bother the man guy. I reported it and someone was supposed to come by and try to fix it. No one came and when i contacted management they were insistent that we had forgotten to leave the key in the lock box so Maintence could get in. Three of us were there when we put the key in. And besides we were easily contactable by phone. But rather than just saying “Oh sorry, let’s try again” management tried to make me feel like it was our fault. That’s poor customer service in my book.

Our Stay in Princeville Hawaii PUU POA 403
Reviewed on 2023-02-07 by Heather C. , Black Creek, BC CASuite 403 was a very well laid out upper floor penthouse. The views spectacular, and wonderful furnishings. Pots, pans, knifes a little used. Our unhappiness came with the lack of air conditioning only fans, which the owner said made it comfortable with the wind from the water. IT DID NOT, especially if it rained, as you cannot have the doors open or the rain blows in across the newer floor. VERY HUMID, with that everything gets very damp, including all our clothes. We also had a leak across the upper beam, constant dripping onto the floor, dangerous & slippery. The property manager was very responsive, but it does not change what was going on. The property is tired and needs a DEEP clean! Faucets loose, stove, wash machine didn't work properly, master bath dirty, etc...Photos look good!
Nice decor, but not nice enough for the price
Reviewed on 2022-07-14 by , Plano, TX USPuu Poa in Princeville is a great location - this is our third stay in this complex and there is not a bad view. Each condo has pretty much the same layout. #403 Meh. Upgraded furniture, kitchen and decor, but no outdoor grill, no AC, living room fan doesn’t even cool ... which is next to an atrium with a glass ceiling that collects a lot of afternoon sun. For the higher nightly rate, these are basics guests should expect. My brother stayed in building 2 - decor not as “Pottery Barn” but they had AC, grill, atrium and same layout and paid a fraction of the cost per night. Master bedroom window does not close and with nightly rain showers we both woke up severely congested and everything felt damp. Disappointing, wanted to love this place.
What a VIEW....

Puu Poa 403 as of May, 2022
Reviewed on 2022-05-16 by , Huntsville, UT United StatesWe had a wonderful time in Kauai and the location of the property was perfect. The property itself is not new, but kept is good condition. Our unit 403, however, was in dire need of a total renovation. For the price we paid, we expected it to be in much better condition. First, it was far from clean. The rugs were filthy and damp; windows were not working properly, fans didn’t turn on past slow and there was no air conditioning. The dishwasher took 3 1/2 hours for a single wash. The washing machine worked sometimes. Other times it filled with water and stopped before the spin cycle. The dryer was filthy and took almost 2 hours to dry a full load. The extra bathroom was filthy, especially around the washer/dryer, the shower curtain hadn’t been washed in I don’t know how long. The rod was all rusted and there was mold in the tub. We saw other units that were beautifully renovated with all modern appliances, new flooring throughout with both air conditioning and new outside grills. We would not recommend unit 403.

Cliff top wonder
Reviewed on 2021-08-27 by , Arlington, MA United StatesOur only criticism - a big one - is the weird, completely useless dinner plate size electric grill on the lanai. In a place with no ac, no one wants to cook inside but the grill would not heat up - even after half an hour - not even enough to cook veggies, much less fish or meat. We called oceanfront and they were fabulous, but it’s an owner issue.
Otherwise, great stay - clean, roomy, comfortable and ocean waves lull you to sleep. And the limitations on reaching hanalei are not as bad as it might seem in the beginning. It’s easy to get the hang of the rhythm of it.
The apartment is wonderful - beautifully sited to see the ocean and sunsets. The winds keep the place cool, especially with the fans on. It is large and comfortable. The location is perfect for walking to hideaways beach. The pool was nice for cooling off and mellowing out, especially in the evening. We’ve stayed in several Puu Poa apartments over the last 10 years and this one was our favorite (mostly). We really enjoyed our month at the apartment.

Our only criticism - a big one - is the weird, completely useless dinner plate size electric grill on the lanai.
